Joe Engeser
Home Up

Joe Engeser was the only son of Martin Engeser and Paulina Magus.  He was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota around 1887.  The family left Minnesota in 1890 and settled first in Tacoma, Washington.  In 1899, they took up a homestead of 160 acres in the N.E. Quarter of Section 32.  After the death of his mother in 1942, Joe moved to his small cabin shown below in the photographs.  The original homestead plus another eighty acres was later sold to the Siverson Brother's Sawmill.  Joe died in a nursing home in Spokane on March 10, 1970 and is buried in Pines Cemetery.

Newspaper Article - Part 2

Compliments of the Spoksman Review. To the best of my analysis, this must have been published close to his death in 1970.
